MEET THE THERAPIST
Hi, I'm Karen!
I’m deeply passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing. By weaving together my Christian faith, personal experiences, and professional training, I offer counselling rooted in empathy, integrity, and a deep respect for each client’s journey.
My path into this work has been shaped by real-life experience and a calling to walk alongside others with compassion. I was raised on a farm and spent many years working in agriculture, an environment that instilled in me the values of perseverance, community, and honest connection. Those early lessons continue to influence how I build trust and show up for clients.
Later, I served as a missionary in Mexico, where I witnessed firsthand the courage it takes to face life’s hardest moments. That season of service affirmed my desire to support others more intentionally and led me to pursue formal counselling training in 2017.
Today, I blend evidence-based practices with a heart-centred approach, creating a space where people feel seen, safe, and supported. Whether you're processing trauma, exploring faith questions, or navigating everyday stress, I’m here to help you find clarity, resilience, and renewed hope - at your own pace, in your own way.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?I understand that finances can be a barrier to accessing therapy, and I am committed to making counselling accessible. Please contact me directly to discuss sliding scale options.
-
Do you see children or adolescents? At this time, I do not see children or adolescents under the age of 18. However, I am happy to provide referrals for local therapists who specialize in working with younger clients.
-
Am I covered by my insurance?Like many counsellors, I am unable to bill directly for most insurance plans. However, if your insurance plan covers sessions with a mental health counsellor or a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), you should be eligible for reimbursement for a certain number of sessions, depending on your plan. Be sure to check with your insurance provider for specific details about your coverage.
-
What should I expect during my first session?During your first session, we'll discuss your goals for therapy and the challenges you're facing. I will take time to understand your unique situation, and we’ll talk about the best approach moving forward. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about the process.
-
How will I know when I'm "done" therapy? The end of therapy is a personal and often gradual process. It’s typically when you feel you have achieved your goals, developed effective coping strategies, and feel equipped to handle challenges independently. Together, we’ll regularly assess progress and discuss how you’re feeling about the work we’ve done. When the time comes to conclude therapy, it will be a mutual decision, and I’ll support you in feeling confident about transitioning out of therapy.
-
Is my counselling confidential?Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our work together. What you share in counselling will remain private, with a few legal exceptions (such as harm to yourself or others). If you have any questions about confidentiality, feel free to ask.
-
How do I book a session? To get started, please reach out to me directly through the contact page, and we can schedule your first session. If you're unsure about what to expect or need more information, I’m happy to answer any questions beforehand.
