Frequently Asked Questions
What is your fee?
My fee for Individual Counselling is $130 for a 60-minute session, and $195 for a 90-mintute Couples Counselling or EMDR session.
Am I covered by my insurance?
Like many counsellors, I am not able to bill directly for most insurance coverage. If you have an insurance plan that covers sessions with a mental health counsellor, or a Canadian Certified Counsellor, you should be able to be reimbursed for a certain number of sessions as detailed by your plan.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
My capacity for seeing clients at a reduced sliding scale rate is full at this time.
How often will I see you?
Every client is different, but generally, I start out seeing clients once per week for 3-4 sessions to establish good rapport and specific counselling goals. After that, I work with each client to find a schedule that will work best towards those goals.
Do you see children or adolescents?
At this time I do not see children or adolescents under the age of 18 – I am happy to share some referrals for local therapists who specialize in this area
.
How will I know when I'm "done" therapy?
This is where having some good, concrete counselling goals will come in. I am committed to helping my clients notice things like positive changes in thought patterns and behaviours, the ability to sit with discomfort, and specific progress toward their counselling goals. Less frequent appointments and eventually agreeing to suspend regular sessions are part of the process, and something we can work out together.
