Am I covered by my insurance?
Like many counsellors, I am unable to bill directly for most insurance plans. However, if your insurance plan covers sessions with a mental health counsellor or a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), you should be eligible for reimbursement for a certain number of sessions, depending on your plan. Be sure to check with your insurance provider for specific details about your coverage.
How will I know when I'm "done" therapy?
The end of therapy is a personal and often gradual process. It’s typically when you feel you have achieved your goals, developed effective coping strategies, and feel equipped to handle challenges independently. Together, we’ll regularly assess progress and discuss how you’re feeling about the work we’ve done. When the time comes to conclude therapy, it will be a mutual decision, and I’ll support you in feeling confident about transitioning out of therapy.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
I understand that finances can be a barrier to accessing therapy, and I am committed to making counselling accessible. Please contact me directly to discuss sliding scale options.
What should I expect during my first session?
During your first session, we'll discuss your goals for therapy and the challenges you're facing. I will take time to understand your unique situation, and we’ll talk about the best approach moving forward. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about the process.
How do I book a session?
To get started, please reach out to me directly through the contact page, and we can schedule your first session. If you're unsure about what to expect or need more information, I’m happy to answer any questions beforehand.
Do you see children or adolescents?
At this time, I do not see children or adolescents under the age of 18. However, I am happy to provide referrals for local therapists who specialize in working with younger clients..
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based approach for processing traumatic memories. It helps reduce the emotional intensity associated with distressing events and supports healing and integration.
Is my counselling confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our work together. What you share in counselling will remain private, with a few legal exceptions (such as harm to yourself or others). If you have any questions about confidentiality, feel free to ask.
